NADCAP Standards for Device Calibration
Process instrument calibration is the process of evaluating and documenting the measurement of a device by comparing it with a traceable reference standard.
The primary reasons for calibrating devices are to ensure traceability, minimize the uncertainty by calculating the device’s error, and instill confidence in the device.
It is crucial to calibrate each device used to ensure the validity of the process. The key to the quality and safe operation of this process is to perform calibrations with a properly calibrated device/equipment.
The duration between calibrations, how the equipment is used, and calibration periods based on applied processes and standards should be determined.
